A Short Look at our History...

1924

A group of business men, led by John E. Cole, purchased 30 acres of land for a cemetery.

1926

Pinecrest opens with 30 acres offering traditional burials, at that time 7 miles west of Ottawa.

1956 

An extra 30 acres purchased extending the property to Greenbank Road.

1962 

The first crematorium between Toronto and Montreal is established and a new choice is available.

1968

A second chapel is constructed to again meet the needs of families. Cremation becomes more acceptable as a choice. Urn Gardens, Exterior Columbariums are built to meet the ever increasing challenge.

1970

A second crematorium is constructed as well as an Indoor Columbarium.

1978

A Garden Crypt Mausoleum is built, followed in 1984 and 1990 with Mausoleums offering both above ground entombment and Cremation Niches.120 acres in West Carleton is purchased to create Highland Park Cemetery.

1990's  

The creation of Ontario’s first Full Service facility with On-site Visitation and Receptions. During this time a program of pre-planning for families along with inviting grounds and abundant Memorialization choices have enabled Pinecrest to remain the Choice for families.Pinecrest now offers; two locations with 160 acres, Crematorium, Mausoleums, Columbariums, Urn Gardens, Visitation, Chapel, and Reception Facilities, Funeral Pre-planning, and Memorialization.

2005 

A 9000 sq ft addition consisting of spacious visitation rooms complete with Plasma viewing screens and major upgrades to all family service facilities.

2011 

Construction begins on the Mausoleum of Peace & Tranquility

 

 New Development Plans are currently underway for Heritage Trail and Woodland Sites.
