Eva Anne Brown (née Cathcart), born in Dunrobin, Ontario, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, surrounded by the love and memories of a life beautifully lived. She leaves behind a lifetime of cherished moments for her family and the many friends whose lives she touched.
Eva spent much of her life in Richmond and Kanata, where she became known as a truly warm, generous, and welcoming presence. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel valued and included, and it often seemed as though she had a million friends. Eva always had a kind word, a warm smile, and a thoughtful gesture ready for those around her. She especially loved giving gifts—small tokens that reflected the enormous love and care she carried in her heart for others.
She began her career at IBM and later spent most of her working years with Computing Devices. Beyond her professional contributions, Eva formed many lasting friendships with the people she worked alongside, relationships she treasured for many years.
Eva also loved time spent around the card table and had a special passion for playing euchre and cribbage with family and friends. Those lively games were filled with laughter, friendly competition, and countless happy memories that will continue to be treasured by all who shared them with her.
Above all else, Eva’s greatest joy in life was her family. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Terry and Sherry Bennett (Bob). She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Meghan (Scott), Michael (Annie), Erin (Mark), Kel (Audie), and Jamie (Alicia). Nothing brought her more happiness than watching her family grow, and she delighted in her role as a cherished great-grandmother to Hanna, Madison, Annora, Jaxon, Brayden, Ellie, and Kaia.
Eva was predeceased by her beloved husband of more than 65 years, Ted Brown, whose love and partnership were the foundation of her life. She was also predeceased by her brother, Bruce Cathcart, and her sister, Bev Cathcart.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026 at Kanata United Church, 33 Leacock Drive, Kanata, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eva’s memory may be made to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.
Forever loved and always remembered.
