Obituary of Ralph Douglas Sterling

STERLING, Ralph Douglas – Peacefully, at home, on Monday, November 10, 2025, at the age of 68 years.  Beloved husband of Ann (née Chilvers).  Loving father of Kevin (Amy) and Philip.  Cherished grandfather of Arthur.  Dear brother of Nancy Tremblay, Elizabeth Sterling, and Allan Sterling.  Uncle to Tracy, Ally, Amanda, Jessica, and Hailey.  Predeceased by his parents, James Sterling & Elaine (née Stacey) Sterling.

It is with great broken hearts that our family announces that Ralph passed away on November 10th, 2025, at the age of 68, after a hard fight with lung cancer. He enjoyed every day of his life, beginning his career as a carpenter and eventually transitioning to work in retirement residences, leading up to his final role as Environmental Maintenance Manager at Aspira Bearbrook Retirement Living. 

He was loved by everyone everywhere he worked. He would take his time and make everyone happy, but always did everything his own way. He enjoyed taking care of things around the house, and he loved to take trips. When his sons needed help, he was always there for them, regardless of the task or the job's size. 

He will be deeply missed by everyone.  Ralph will be in our hearts forever and will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa, (613) 831-7122, on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 from 10 am.  A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday at 2 pm.
