Obituary of Baidzar Babikian
CHRIST IS RISEN!
MEMORY ETERNAL!
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Baidzar Babikian on January 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, in her 88th year.
Born in Beirut, Lebanon to the late Siranoush Ekizian and Hovannes Minassian, Baidzar devoted her life to her Christian faith and to caring for others. Spirited, strong-willed, and profoundly compassionate, she touched the lives of all who knew her. She had a rare gift for making everyone feel seen, cherished, and part of her extended family, leaving behind a trail of love wherever she went.
She made her home in Ottawa, building a sanctuary filled with warmth, laughter, and faith. As a Personal Support Worker, she treated every client as family, offering comfort, care, and kindness. She was a founding member of the Ottawa chapter of the Armenian Relief Society, embodying the spirit of service and devotion. Her humor, wisdom, and boundless generosity will live on in the hearts of all she touched. She was known and loved as Mama, but she was adored as “Spicy Nene.”
Baidzar leaves behind a legacy of love and will be missed beyond measure by her children Zarouhie Babikian, Shahe (Vivian) Babikian, Wilma Babikian, Taline (Paolo) Marcantonio, and Vrej Babikian (Andrea Feilders); her grandchildren Marina Babikian, Jonathan Hodgins, Zaven Babikian, Justin Babikian, Hovannes Babikian, Gabriella Marcantonio, Nicolla Marcantonio, Mikael Babikian, Lara Babikian, and Naomi Babikian. She will also be missed by her nieces, nephews, and relatives both in Canada and abroad.
She is predeceased by her husband, Ohannes Arsen Babikian, and her brother Albert Minassian. She is survived by her brothers Harout Minassian, Hagop Minassian (Ann), and her sister Lucie Chidiac (late Tony).
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the fourth-floor staff of Extendicare Crossing Bridge LTC for their extraordinary care and love.
In keeping with her wishes, a private service will be held to celebrate her remarkable life. Those wishing to honor her memory may make donations to the Armenian Relief Society, a cause she held dear.
Her spirit was a light, her love a refuge, and her life a testament to the beauty of a heart devoted to others.
