Obituary of Eugeniusz Jerzy Lachowski

Eugeniusz (Eugene) Jerzy Lachowski, 79, of Ottawa, Ontario passed away on January 31, 2026 in Reykjavík, Iceland.

Funeral service will be held at St Hyacinth Polish Church, 201 Lebreton St N, Ottawa on February 19, 2026 at 11AM with Father Antoni Degutis of St Hyacinth officiating - a reception at the church will follow the mass. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery at 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa, Ontario at 2PM.

Eugene was born in Tomaszow Mazowiecki, Poland to Irena and Stanislaw Lachowski on October 7, 1946. He finished studies in Poland and went on to earn a certificate from Okretach Bojowych Polskiego Marynarki Wojennej and worked on Polish Ship named Batory. He worked as a Driver for Nigerian Embassy for over 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bee farming and spending time with friends. He was involved in creating the Rideau Outdoor Club which many friends enjoyed various outdoor activities.

Eugene is survived by his son Adrian Lachowski and his daughter Angelika Lachowski, Ottawa, Ontario, his grandchildren, Olivia and Nikolas Lachowski, his sister Lilianna Pillon, her spouse David and nieces Sylvia, Monica and Samantha and sister in Poland Mariola Adamczewska. He is preceded in death by his spouse Teresa Lachowski and her parents Zofia and Jerzy Pabiasz and brother-in-law Richard Pabiasz.

Memorial donations may be made to St Hyacinth Polish Church in Ottawa. The family appreciates your prayers and condolences. He will be missed by many friends and the Polish community in Ottawa.
