Arjun Patil

Obituary of Arjun Patil

Arjun Patil, age 81, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026, in Ottawa, Canada.

He was the beloved husband of the late Sunita Patil and a devoted father to Ira (Jagdish), Anjali (Philippe), and Sam. He was a loving grandfather to Aaryan and Vanaaisha.

Born in India to the late Laxman Patil and Aku Patil, Arjun Patil came to Canada in the early 1970s to pursue advanced studies in Physics at the University of Western Ontario. He later earned an MBA from the University of Windsor and obtained his Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation — achievements that marked the beginning of a distinguished and purposeful career.

Arjun devoted many years to public service with the Government of Canada, holding senior roles with the Receiver General and the Department of Justice as a Senior Financial Advisor. His wisdom and steady leadership were recognized through his appointment by the Prime Minister and Cabinet to the Pension Advisory Board.

Beyond his government service, Arjun was a trusted tax advisor for more than forty years. Clients sought his counsel not only for his expertise, but for his integrity, fairness, and genuine care — qualities that defined both his work and his character.

Service was central to Arjun’s life. He contributed his time and leadership to the Financial Management Institute and served as Vice President and Treasurer of the Association of Canadian Financial Officers. He supported charitable and cultural organizations including Child Haven International and the India–Canada Association, and was a founding member and Chairman of Aroha Fine Arts.

Though he built his life in Canada, Arjun remained deeply connected to his roots. When his high school in India collapsed during the monsoon season, he stepped forward — contributing personally and leading fundraising efforts to help rebuild Saraswati High School in Kalkundri.

Above all, Arjun was a devoted father who instilled the values of hard work, responsibility, and perseverance. He will be remembered with love, pride, and deep respect by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
