Dimitrios "Jim" Travlos

Obituary of Dimitrios "Jim" Travlos

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Jim Travlos in hospital, on Sunday March 1, 2026, at the age of 94. Loving husband of the late Olympia (Diamantakos). Beloved father of Angela (Tony Provenzano).  Cherished grandpa “papou” of Dimitrios, Maria, and Andreas.  Predeceased by his parents, Vasilios and Evagelia, his brothers Seraphim and George in Greece, Nicolas in Canada, brother-in-law John, sister-in-law Athena and his nephew George in Canada. Survived by his sister-in-law Vasiliki (the late Kyriakos) in Greece. He will be fondly remembered by his extended family and friends in Canada, the U.S. and Greece.

Jim was a talented chef by trade, but his most cherished roles were those of devoted husband, father, and grandfather. While he was a master in the kitchen, he was equally at home in his vegetable garden or with his tools always fixing what was broken. A man of quiet strength, and profound humility he never sought the spotlight, preferring instead to show his love through a perfectly cooked meal and a helping hand. His life was a testament to the value of hard work and selfless dedication to family. He will be deeply missed but the warmth of his spirit will always remain in our hearts.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Dr. Eyre and Allison at CCHC, the staff at Nurse on Board and the many dedicated support workers at Access Healthcare Services and Ideal Caregivers 4U for their kind and compassionate care.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday March 10, 2026, at the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 1315 Prince of Wales Drive from 10:30 am to 11:00 am, followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 am.  Interment will take place at Pinecrest Cemetery. A celebration of life reception “makaria” will take place at the church hall following the interment. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Jim’s memory.  Please indicate “In memory of Jim Travlos”.
