Obituary of Geoffrey Martin

We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of Geoff Martin, who left us far too soon on March 6, 2026, at the age of 53.

Geoff was a kind and generous soul who was quick to befriend anyone he met. He lived with brittle juvenile diabetes, which significantly affected his daily life. Despite these serious health challenges, Geoff never complained and never felt sorry for himself.

After the passing of our mother in 2023, Geoff stepped naturally into the role of friend to his grieving father. He visited him every day, took him on weekly outings, and helped with shopping and other daily needs. He would often set aside his own plans to make sure his father was not left alone.

One of Geoff’s greatest joys was being an uncle to his nieces, Ella and Zoe, and his nephew, Callum. He cared for them deeply and spoiled them whenever he could, despite not having much himself. He loved their weekly dinners together, where he could catch up and hear how they were doing. He would save for months to buy their Christmas presents, simply to see them smile.

Geoff also loved travelling with his parents. His favourite trip was to Great Britain to visit the places where they had grown up. He dreamed of travelling more, but his health challenges often made that difficult.

Geoff leaves behind his loving father Robert, sister Maggie, brother-in-law Doug; his nieces and nephew; and many extended family members, friends, and co-workers.

We will remember Geoff for his quiet friendliness, kindness, and generosity. We hope he is now at peace and reunited with his beloved mother, Barbara. He will be deeply missed every day.
