Obituary of Karen Atkinson

August 24, 1964 - May 31, 2026

It is with profound sadness that my family announce the passing of our mom Karen on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at the tender age of 61.

Karen was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and a loving friend whose kindness, strength, and generosity touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Karen had a warm heart, a beautiful smile, and a remarkable ability to make others feel loved and welcomed. Her family was the center of her world, and she took great pride in the people she loved.

Karen will be remembered for her unwavering support, her compassionate spirit, her sense of humor, and the countless memories she created with friends and family. Whether sharing stories, offering a helping hand, or simply being there when needed most. Karen's presence brought comfort and joy to those around her.

Karen leaves behind her daughter Krystal (Andy), her granddaughter Kassidy, her son David and grandson Dillan. Karen leaves behind her brothers and sisters. Rob (Mary), Anne (Pat), Mike (Laila), John (Violet) Jack, Margaret and Alice. Predeceased by her mother Mary Francis Beaudry and her father Bob Atkinson and her brother Freddy. She has many nieces and nephews that she loved deeply and who loved her.

Karen leaves behind a family who loved her deeply and will miss her every day. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that her love, wisdom, and beautiful spirit will live on through all who were fortunate enough to know her.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers at the Shepherds of Good Hope for their compassion, kindness, dignity and support they showed my mom. Their care brought comfort during a difficult time in her life and we will always be grateful for the respect and humanity they extended to her. In honoring Karen’s memory, donations to the Shepherds of Good Hope would be greatly appreciated so they can continue their important work helping others in need.

Karen’s memory will forever be cherished, and her legacy of love will continue to guide us.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Karen's memory to the Shepherds of Good Hope or to a mental health organization of your choice. The family hopes that supporting these causes will honour Karen's compassionate spirit and help others facing life's challenges.

"Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard but always"

Rest Easy Mom

Love always and forever
