Obituary of Anita Tierney (Young)
With profound sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Anita Tierney at her home on May 26, 2026, just two days before her 81st birthday.
Beloved wife and best friend of Kevin Tierney for 35 years, Anita was a devoted mother to Simon (Lynh), Sarah (Clayton), and the late Samantha. She was a loving stepmother to Jennifer (Jason) and Adam (Chelsea).
A cherished Nana to Liam and Autumn, Anita’s love for her family was evident in all that she did.
Dear daughter of the late Doris Mather. Dear sister of the late David (Linda).
She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Janet, Kenny (Theresa), Dawna (Glenn), and the late Robert (Diane), as well as by her many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Born in Lancashire, England, Anita answered a calling to care for others at a young age, training as a nurse and midwife at just 18 years of age. In the late 1970s, she courageously immigrated to Canada, where she built a new life and proudly became a Canadian citizen. Anita continued her lifelong dedication to nursing, spending the remainder of her career caring for patients at the Ottawa Grace Hospital. She found great fulfillment in helping others through some of life’s most important moments and was respected by colleagues and appreciated by the many patients and families whose lives she touched. Her compassion, strength, and quiet dedication to service remained defining qualities throughout her life.
In addition to her nursing career, Anita and Kevin built a successful automotive business together, working side by side for many years. While Kevin focused on the mechanical work, Anita expertly managed the business operations and bookkeeping. Their partnership in both business and life was a source of pride and fulfillment, reflecting the teamwork, dedication, and mutual respect they shared throughout their 35 years together.
After retiring, Anita embraced life’s simple pleasures and the time she shared with her beloved husband, Kevin. Together they enjoyed many motorcycle adventures with friends, creating cherished memories on the open road. Anita loved welcoming family and friends into her home for gatherings filled with laughter, conversation, and good company. Quiet evenings spent watching movies and favourite British television shows with Kevin brought her great happiness, as did the companionship of their beloved dog, Hope. Above all, Anita treasured time with those she loved and created a home where everyone felt welcome.
Anita will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, resilience, and unwavering love for her family. Though her passing was sudden, the memories she leaves behind will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Details will be announced once arrangements have been finalized.
Forever loved, deeply missed, and always remembered.
