Obituary of Francesco "Franco" Martino

Surrounded by the love of his family, Francesco (Franco) Martino passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the age of 88.

Beloved husband of Lina, Franco shared an extraordinary 60 years of marriage, celebrating this remarkable milestone together only one week before his passing. Their marriage was built on a lifetime of love, sacrifice, faith, commitment, and unwavering devotion to one another.

He was the devoted father of Antonio (Carmelina Tassone), Aldo (Sandra Sicoli), and Patrizia (Helder Barreiros), and the proud and loving Nonno of Matteo, Paolo, Arianna, Giuliana, Alessio, and Loredana. His family was the centre of his life, and nothing brought him greater joy or pride than watching his children and grandchildren grow, succeed, and build families of their own.

Franco was the loving brother of Giovanna (the late Saro Panuccio), the late Giuseppe (Margaret), Carmela (the late Giuseppe Postorino), the late Maria (Antonino Vazzana), Giovanni (Consolata), and Cosimo (the late Mimma). He was also a cherished brother-in-law of Grazia Scopelliti (the late Pietro), Gaetano Pecora (the late Audrey), and Pietro Pecora (Rosetta), and will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy.

Born in Italy, Franco built a life founded on an extraordinary work ethic, unwavering perseverance, courage, integrity, generosity and an unbreakable devotion to his family.

Franco leaves behind a legacy of love, family, honesty, humility and kindness that will continue through his children, grandchildren, extended family, and all whose lives he touched.

He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in our hearts.

Friends are invited to Pinecrest Remembrance Services, 2500 Baseline Road, on Monday, July 6. 2026 from 3-5 & 7-9pm. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 427 Booth Street on Tuesday, July 7 at 10am. Entombment to follow at Pinecrest Cemetery..
