Obituary of Elsie Joy Rafferty (nee Clarke)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Elsie Joy Rafferty on July 31st at the age of 91. 

Joy was the daughter of Florence Cole and James Clarke, of England. She was the beloved wife and best friend of James L. Rafferty (DDS) with whom she shared a lifetime of unwavering love, laughter and devotion. 

Joy was a nurse, and loved fishing and gardening. She was a loving mother to Stephen (Chantal), Carol (Brian), Elizabeth (Richard), Margaret (Eduardo), and James (Marie).  She was also a cherished stepmother to Joan (Seamus), of Ireland. She will be dearly missed by her 19 grandchildren, all of whom brought her tremendous pride and joy. She was recently blessed with the arrival of her first great-grandchild Emilie, a role that filled her heart with happiness. 

Joy will be remembered for her love for her family, the countless memories she created, and her quick wit that stayed with her until the very last moments. She will be missed and forever cherished. 

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Joy's life at 1:00 PM on Sunday August 16th, 2026 At Highland Park Cemetery, 2037 McGee Side Rd. Carp ON. A small reception will follow the service.
