I knew Steve Burgess as my Grenadier Guard Sargent while posted in Lahr, Germany with the Van Dooz (Vingt Deux). He was one of the best Sargents I have ever served with and will always be remembered with great memories. A short story here with a picture, while out on patrol in the Black Forest, we stumbled upon a local Festival going on. They invited us in and served us food and drink. We were challenged to a tug of war, I dont remember the outcome, but they were the nicest of people.
Green grass and blue skies Steve.

Johanne and I send our deepest condolences to Beverley and family. Steve was a pillar in the Grenadier community and his leadership and comradery will be greatly missed. It was through his enthusiasm for anything Grenadier that we continued to follow the Guards activities despite living with family clear across the Country. Steve, you will be missed but always in our hearts.

My deepest sympathies to Beverly, Laurie, and family
I’m really going to miss you “old Buddy” Steve … you were “one of the best Jr. NCO’s I had” back when I was a Lieutenant … and since then continued on as “one of the best Sr. NCO’s” that our Regiment has ever seen!! ...
You will be sorely missed Steve, but will always remain in the hearts and minds, of all Grenadiers who had the privilege of knowing and working with you.
God Bless you Steve, RIP, and Rise again in Glory, one day together with our Lord!
See you in Valhalla, my friend!

Sergeant Burgess of our unit, 4 Division, CGG, Public Duties Detachment, April-August 1973, left a memorable impression on me as a young guardsman and set an example and influenced me well and positively in my personal development. I stayed in touch with the Regiment during law school in Quebec City and rejoined in 1976 as a junior officer. May his family and loved ones have strength at this time of loss. Please accept my deep sympathies. Jacques Demers
