Obituary of Christina Evangelidis
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Christina Evangelidis on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at the age of 86. She passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Beloved wife of the late Konstantinos Evangelidis, Christina was a loving mother to Chris (Carolyne) and Vivian (John Dimeo) and a proud Yiayia to Kryslin, Kaylee, Antonio, Juliano, and Cristiano, all of whom she cherished deeply. Her kindness and gentle spirit extended beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of many.
Christina was predeceased by her parents, Ioannis and Panagiota, her brothers Sotirios and Panagiotis in Greece, and her brother Christos (Sotiria) in Canada. She will be deeply missed by her dear sister Tassia (late Nicholas) and the many nieces and nephews who adored her.
A woman of incredible warmth, Christina welcomed everyone with open arms and a generous heart. She was a quiet and humble soul, never seeking attention but always present with love and support. Though soft-spoken, her actions spoke volumes—whether through the care she poured into her cooking, the beauty she cultivated in her garden, or the tireless energy she devoted to her family. She remained incredibly active throughout her life, always finding joy in movement, whether tending to her home, walking outdoors, or keeping up with her grandchildren.
During her children's school years, her home became a haven—a place where neighborhood children gathered to play, share meals, and make lasting memories. Her kindness, selflessness, and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Kimissis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church (1315 Prince of Wales Drive) from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at 12:00 p.m. at Pinecrest Cemetery. A Makaria (Celebration of Life reception) will follow in the church basement at 1:00 p.m.
Donations to the Hellenic Community of Ottawa (Greek Orthodox Church) “In memory of Christina Evangelidis” or the Canadian Cancer Society are welcome.
May her memory be eternal.
