Obituary of Frank Hughes

It is with deep sadness we announce that Frank Gordon Hughes passed away peacefully in hospital on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at the age of 93 following a lengthy illness.

Now reunited with the love of his life, his beloved wife, Gwendolyn Dawn (née Cross); also predeceased by father Stanley Hughes and mother Joan Hughes (née Davidson), brothers Joseph (late Rene), James (late Ada) and sister, Eleanor (late Johnny).

Proud Father to Gregory (Amy) and Lisa (James), proud Grandfather to Brittany (Serge), Maya and Abigail.  Proud Great-Grandfather to Joseph (JD) and Lily Belle.

Frank was a longtime employee of IBM Canada where he worked as a computer engineer. Upon his retirement from IBM Canada, he worked for CSIS until full retirement.

A dedicated family man, he enjoyed taking trips to the family cottage every summer; he was an avid fan of aviation who enjoyed gliding  in his younger years as well as piloting small aircraft at the Rockcliffe Airport. Frank was also a DYI enthusiast, there was nothing he couldn’t build or repair.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the Pinecrest Remembrance Services, 2500 Baseline Rd., on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 11:15 AM. Reception to follow.
