Obituary of Patrick Joseph Monnelly

February 11, 1935 - February 14, 2025 

Patrick Monnelly passed away peacefully on February 14th, 2025 in the presence of his son, Peter Monnelly.  Remembered with fondness by his beloved wife, Margaret Monnelly, sons Noel and Peter, grand-children, Kelsey (Clayton), Lauren and Dylan and his great grandchild Bennet. He will also be missed by his sister-in-laws Eileen Keegan and Grace Munnelly, brother-in laws James and Patrick Geoghagen. Patrick was predeceased by his Brothers Michael (Breege), Noel (Grace), Eammon (Philomena), Seamus (Mary) and Donal Munnelly. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews who originated from County Mayo in Ireland and some who have moved throughout the world in good Irish tradition. Patrick took a lot of joy in his extended family including those on his wife's side of the marriage. 

Patrick enjoyed a full life which started with a work adventure as a ship radioman that took him around the world before eventually settling in Canada with his young family. Here in Canada, Patrick enjoyed many activities including developing the family cottage with bis brother-in-law Patrick Geohegan and participating in carriage driving with the family pony named Joey. He was a healthy and active senior until an unfortunate fall three years ago which reduced his mobility. Our family wish to thank the many people who have supported Patrick subsequent to his fall and in particular the staff at the Bruyere Hospital and the Stirling Retirement Home in Ottawa. We also we wish to thank the staff at the Queensway-Carleton Hospital for their considerate care during Patrick's last few days. 

In keeping with family wishes, there will be a private funeral celebrating Patrick's life. The family would suggest memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation that Patrick supported.
