Obituary of Arthur Milo Pattison

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Arthur Milo Pattison on Friday, March 28, 2025 at the age of 84 after a brief fight with cancer. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Freda Margaret Pattison. Father to Peter (Jennifer) of Ottawa, Christina (Trent) of Ottawa, Rebecca (Adam) of Ottawa and Paul (Diana) of Salt Spring Island. Grandfather to Lauren, Megan, Neeve, Emily, Simon, Liam and Sophie. Brother of Carol Pattison (Al). We find comfort in the thought that he passed away peacefully.

Art was born October 4, 1940 to Carman and Bernice (nee Jones) Pattison in Ottawa, Ontario. After graduating from Nepean High School, Art attended Carleton University for a BSc. He then went to Teachers College in the mid-1960s. Art became a teacher in Ottawa for 5 years. It was during this time that he met his future wife at a youth rally in Markham, Ontario in September 1965. After three dates, he proposed at Camp IAWAH and they were married in Peterborough on August 24, 1966. In 1968, they moved to Toronto so he could attend Knox (Theological) College. In 1971, they moved to Barrie, Ontario with their first born son, where Art became a minister at Essa Road Presbyterian Church. After 3 years, Arthur accepted a call to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Ottawa. After several years of preaching, Art returned to teach high school Math and Science in the Ottawa area. Once they retired, Art and Freda were able to briefly travel together before Freda’s Alzheimers became too advanced. Art enjoyed visiting Freda and playing the piano for the residents of the Glebe Centre. He has now joined his beloved Freda in eternal peace with his Lord.

A Memorial Service celebrating Art’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, 971 Woodroffe Avenue, just North of the Queensway. In lieu of flowers, donations to Camp IAWAH would be welcomed.
