Marilyn Crowe

Obituary of Marilyn Crowe

We are sad to announce the passing of Marilyn (Louise) Crowe nee Cardy, on April 24, 2025. Marilyn had many health challenges over the past 12 years which she met with steady determination, hope and strength. Marilyn was a caring person, who nurtured others in our community over the years, before eventually needing care for herself. She was 88 years of age.

Marilyn’s life was a rich one. She was born and spent her early years St. Andrews, Manitoba, and later moved to Ottawa to live with her brother completing her high school years at Nepean High School. She would remain in Ottawa where she married, had 3 children and became a nurse in her 30’s to go on to have a 25 year career at the Ottawa Civic Hospital (retired 1996). Marilyn enjoyed her years with family at The Big Rideau Lake, where she later lived in retirement. Many treasured memories were made at the “lake”.

Her wide circle of friends included relationships formed in childhood, and various stages of her life, including her affiliation with Beta Sigma Phi, and her beloved Church. She was an active member of Christ Church Anglican, until it became too difficult to attend, but maintained a strong tie through outreach, for her spiritual well-being.

Marilyn is predeceased by her youngest son Shawn (1982), her husband Ron Crowe (2004), grandson Dylan Bower (2008), brothers Donald and Syd Cardy. She is survived by 2 children, Julie Golding (Terry), and Brian Crowe (Janine); grandchildren Joanna Hughes (Brandon), Lauren Golding (Alain), Shawn and Deanna Crowe, and great grandchildren Isaac Hughes and Harper Bedard. She is also survived by her sister Evelyn Sherwood of Victoria B.C., and many nieces and nephews. Marilyn leaves behind her partner of 12 years Jack Speaker, who regarded Marilyn as his “rock”, and will miss her dearly.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Marilyn's Life will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, 11:00 am at Christ Church Bells Corners 3861 Old Richmond Road, Nepean, ON. A reception and fellowship will follow.
