Obituary of Giuseppe Tirabasso

March 13, 1942 – May 21, 2025

After a brave and hard-fought battle, Giuseppe passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the age of 83.  Predeceased by his beloved wife Maria (Fatica), and his parents Fiorangelo and Annunziata of Italy. Cherished husband to Nicoletta.  Devoted father to Lisa (Chris Buccini) and Angela (Stefano Vogrig).  Adored “Nonno Joe” to Molly and Evan Buccini.  Loving brother to Vittorio (Nunzia) and Maria (Giovanni) of Italy and dear brother-in-law to Rita (John Svab) and Nancy (late Enzo Zanelli).  Fondly remembered by Nicoletta’s family: daughters Antonella (Franco Ippolito) and Sandra (Joe Ieradi), and grandchildren Briana (Ian), Dahlia, Vanessa, Trent, Anthony, and Alyssia.  He will be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends, in Ottawa, Italy, the United States, and Argentina. 

Giuseppe will be remembered as a gentle, smiling, and hard-working man who took pride in the work that he completed in buildings and homes throughout Ottawa during his career as a bricklayer.  He was a passionate gardener and winemaker, but the greatest joy in his life was simply spending time with his family and friends around the dinner table.

The family would like to thank Dr. Andrew Douglas, nurse Abdul, and the entire palliative team who cared for Giuseppe with dignity, kindness, and compassion.

Friends are invited to Pinecrest Remembrance Services, 2500 Baseline Road, on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, from 11am until time of the service in the chapel at 1pm.
