C. Robin Derrick

Obituary of C. Robin Derrick

“I'm printing my name on the lens of a flashlight ...

and shining it through the stars of the night

telling the universe

I was here”

With great sadness, we regret to inform you that Robin has passed away.  Predeceased by his parents, Joe and Mary, he is survived by his loving family: wife Georgia (nee Wittet) and son Matthew (Christine Kingsland); his treasured grandchildren, to whom he was a great Poppa, Charlie, Amelia, Rosie, Archer, Holly and Sterling Derrick and step-grand children Lumi, Liam and Charlotte Clarke; his sister Sue Moffatt (late Jim) and her family; brother-in-law Bruce Wittet (Cyndi) and family; other relatives and friends.

Robin graduated from St. Patrick's College and worked for various federal government departments and agencies.  He volunteered in Stittsville as a soccer, softball and hockey coach and with the Village Association, the Food Bank as Chair, and his Church and was Sr. Citizen of the Year for Stittsville in 2014-2015. Interested in history, he was a long time volunteer with the Goulbourn Historical Society, acting as President and making presentations as the Duke of Richmond.  In his early years Robin was an athlete and a Queen's Scout and represented Canada in Jamborees, his favourite in Greece.

Thanks to the caring staff at the Empress Kanata and to his companion Karen Ashton, who gave him many happy hours.

Robin will be remembered for his outgoing, cheerful personality and his commitment to his family, his community and his friends.

For those wishing, a donation to your local Food Bank, to research into Dementia, or to the Arthritis Society, would please Robin.

A celebration of Robin's life will take place on October 25, 2025.  The party will be held with Cole Funeral Service at Highland Park Cemetery, 2037 McGee Side Road (between Stittsville and Carp)
