Obituary of Byron Quast
It is with heavy hearts that the Quast family announces the sudden passing of Byron Frederick Quast at his home on Friday, June 6, 2025.
Byron was the cherished father of Olivia and Jacob. He is survived by his parents Mervin and Carol Quast, brothers David, Steven (Candida), and Erle (Maria) and his nieces and nephews Sarah, Aidan, Amelie, Adam and Sophia as well as numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
Byron worked in business accounting and administration and in information technology. His recent most cherished position in information technology was when he worked for Nova Networks at their kiosk at CHEO.
Byron had a deep love for sports especially hockey and football. He played hockey all his life, first in the Guelph and the Nepean Minor Hockey Associations, for the Confederation High School Cardinals and lately until his passing in the local men’s recreation leagues. His passion for the game, the camaraderie of his teammates and his competitive spirit were central to his life and he cherished every moment on the rink. He had a proud moment when he posed with his brother Steve with the Goulburn Men’s Recreation Hockey League championship trophy on April 17, 2023.
Byron was also a follower of professional football, his favorite team, through thick and thin, was the Indianapolis Colts. However, his attention to detail and facts made him proud when he won the Oak Fantasy Football League Championship in 2024.
He loved getting together with his family, especially at Christmas. In fact, he never missed a family get together. He enjoyed just being there with his family and sharing those moments.
But, more than anything, Byron was truly devoted to and loved his kids Olivia and Jacob. He was so proud of all their accomplishments, from their childhood artwork, through to their graduations and first jobs. His kids meant everything to him.
He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his kindness and the many lives he touched throughout his 51 years.
