Obituary of Joan Murray

It's with great sadness that we announce that our sister Joan has passed away after a short illness. Born April 27, 1943, she was the second daughter of the late George and Theo Murray and sister to Marian (Bob), Barb (Ned) and Cathy (Bob). She was the generous and caring Aunt Joanie to Wendy, Donna (Todd), Julie, Matthew (Cressida), Joanna (deceased), Jordan and Zoe. Great aunt to 12 nieces and nephews and great great aunt to three little ones. Family was everything to Joan.

Joan happily spent most of her professional life at Modern Niagara and twenty odd years after retirement, she was still a valued guest at their annual Christmas party. Joan then put her heart and soul into her volunteer work at the May Court Club of Ottawa. Whether it was working at the hospice, serving at the soup luncheons or trying to recruit new members, Joan loved her work with this group.  She was an avid tennis player in the summer and snow skier in the colder months and also a loyal patron of the Ottawa Little Theatre. She had her struggles but remained independent and resilient until the end. 

Family support has been wonderful but our heartfelt gratitude goes to our Donna Johnston who has gone above and beyond.
