Obituary of Stephen Coles

It is with sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of Stephen Coles.

Stephen spent his formative years in Acton, Ontario. As a boy, he enjoyed riding his bicycle around town, spending time with his cousins on his grandfather's farm, watching the different trains roll through the local train station, playing in the town band and participating in various activities as a member of the local Scouts group. He attended Guelph University, where he obtained a bachelors degree in mathematics and computer science. 

Stephen had a full and rewarding career at Nortel. As a computer programmer of telecommunications infrastructure, he helped develop the backbone of the internet that is an essential part of our everyday lives. 

Stephen was a dedicated husband of his soul mate, Brenda, and a caring father of Trevor and Bradley. He was the eldest of four children and will be remembered fondly by his siblings Valerie, Leslie, and Eric. He was predeceased by his parents Howard and Dora, his wife Brenda, and his son Trevor. 

Stephen faced many challenges in his life with patience and good humor. He was a kind and gentle soul who was always putting the needs of others ahead of his own. He was a tireless blood donor, an organ donor, and a loyal husband who selflessly nursed his loving wife in her declining years. 

Stephen passed peacefully at the Ottawa Hospital on July 15th, 2025. He will be missed.
