Obituary of Giampiero Del Gesso

It is with sadness that the family of Giampiero Del Gesso announce his passing after a long struggle with illness. Giampiero was a devoted son to his late parents, Anna (Pietrantonio) and Camillo Del Gesso, and brother to Stefania (Marco, Camilla & Beatrice) and Daniele Del Gesso (Christine). 

Born in Italy, Giampiero came to Canada with his parents in 1970 and grew up as part of Ottawa’s vibrant Italian community. Inspired by his father’s work as a carpenter, he began creating with wood at an early age, fashioning shelves, bowls, furniture, and even inventive gadgets. This hands-on ingenuity carried into his career, which spanned decades in construction services and facility management, where he was known for his reliability and dedication. 

Giampiero will be remembered as a person with a “get it done” spirit, someone who could always be counted on when a friend was in need. He took pride in his heritage, and deeply appreciated Canada, the country that became his family’s home. 

A Memorial Service will beheld at the Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel, 2500 Baseline Road on Thursday, September 4th, 2025 at 11:00am followed by inurnment.  For those who wish to attend the service virtually please follow this link at service time - SERVICE
