Obituary of Rudolf Stanke
It is with great sadness that the family of Rudolf “Rudy” Stanke announces his peaceful passing on August 7, 2025, at the age of 88. Rudy was the son of Leo Stanke and Emma Schabert. Born in Poland and raised in Germany, Rudy immigrated to Ottawa in 1960 in search of new opportunities. There, he met his beloved wife, Helga, with whom he shared many joyful years until her passing in 2020.
Rudy began his career at Hampton Paints in 1962 and became its owner just three years later, in 1965. For decades, he served the Ottawa community with unwavering dedication, welcoming customers with warmth and sincerity. Known for his determined, some might say stubborn, spirit and dry sense of humor, Rudy was loved by all who knew him. He cherished early mornings on the golf course and annual winter retreats to Florida, where he made lasting memories with family and friends.
He is survived by his sister, Erika; his children Kelvin (Kristine), Brian, Jeff and Trish; grandchildren Anja, Emily, Brenna, Abbey, Megan, Katie, Tristan, Faber and Emmett; three great-grandchildren; and many furry friends. Predeceased by his wife Helga, sisters Vally and Lina, brother Robert, and daughter-in-law Jennifer.
Memorial donations in Rudy’s honor may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Riverstone Carlingwood Retirement Community for their compassionate care and support. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 6th at Pinecrest Cemetery, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa.
Auf wiedersehen Rudy, wir werden dich vermissen.
