I wanted, way too late it seems, to also leave a note about Rob. Rob was my boss at EDC around 2005-2007 period; I remember it like it was yesterday. He had this reputation as a whiz kid who led the telecom team to great heights and actually we were all nervous that the axe would come down on the International Markets group but actually, nothing of the sort happened. As it turned out Rob was a gifted manager and leader and took it on himself to guide the somewhat counter-culture International Markets group to a place where we became more integrated into EDC's corporate structure, with clear responsibilities and deliverables. He became a mentor and someone I looked up to, and will always be grateful for that. I was totally shocked to hear of his passing, given his relative youth and his active life. My most sincere condolences to Rob's family and inner circle of friends.

My Condolences go out to the entire family. Training Rob was always a blast. Rob was my first ever personal training client and i could not have ask for someone better. He always showed up ready to work his butt off. We would always chat for half the workout talking about hockey (Sens) and golfing in PEI Green Gables. ❤️

To Laurie and members of the Forbes family, please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of your beloved Robert. Over the past several years, I had the honour of playing men's hockey with and against him. I got to know and respect him on a personal level through sharing our experiences of living in Dartmouth, NS. Robert will remain forever in our hearts and memories. May he rest in peace.

My condolences to Rob’s family, as well as so many friends and colleagues. For many years, I played hockey with Rob and the EDC crew on A-1; and, usually we would end up on the same line. Despite the misguided perceiving ours as the ‘checking’ line, tenacious Rob could always be counted on to score a big goal. Often, top-shelf, as I recall. Unfortunate first-liners, and “d” would also miss Rob’s razor-sharp, bone-dry commentary/critique in between shifts. Usually accompanied by a wry grin. I’ll miss that. A fine hockey competitor, and it seems an even better man—not a surprise his leadership on mental health.

My deepest condolences go out Mr. And Mrs. Forbes, to Laurie, and to Charlie and Riley on the loss of your dear son, husband, and father. While I worked directly with Rob for only a few years late in my career, he made such a positive and lasting impact. He was an inspirational leader and colleague—always so upbeat, open-minded, thoughtful, kind, a great communicator, generous with his time and with sharing his vast and diverse knowledge. Rob was the epitome of positivity and approached everything with a can-do attitude—an outstanding role model for all who had the privilege of working with him. I cherish the memories I have of Rob and hope the family memories bring comfort at this time of terrible loss and that soon the tears will turn to smiles at the thought of this amazing man you were fortunate to be so close to.
Fondly remembered and deeply appreciated,
Catherine Hess

Shocking news and heartbreaking! Rob was such a great boss and I still remember him interviewing me back in 2004 and later became our Group VP. He was a great leader, someone who inspired those who work with him. Always a cheerful person and listened, a great colleague to us all. I still remember his message to me last year when I retired, it was kind and thoughtful of him. His passing at such a young age is a loss, he will be missed by his family and all those his life touched on. My sincere condolences to everyone in his family, Rob is in particular one of those I missed at EDC. May he rest in peace!

I had the privilege of working with Rob for many years. He was a caring colleague and leader, always ready to listen and lend a hand. Rob had an endless curiosity and a remarkable ability to learn and grow—never afraid to try something new, whether at work or at play. Above all, his greatest passion and pride was his family—Laurie, Charlie, and Riley. My deepest condolences go out to you and the entire Forbes family.

My deepest condolences to Rob’s family, whom he spoke of with such love and pride. I hope you find comfort in knowing how deeply he touched the lives of those around him.
I was lucky to know Rob first as a friend in high school, and later as a classmate in our MBA program. Alongside Roy, we supported each other through the challenges of finance, and Rob was always the one who kept us grounded with his unwavering positivity.
Rob had the most amazing demeanor—he exuded kindness, cared deeply for others, and brought light into every room he entered. One moment that truly captures his generosity was when my son was playing football at the RedBlacks stadium, Rob offered me his driveway to park in and gave me his season tickets for the game the next day. We spent hours reminiscing on his beautiful front porch, and it felt like no time had passed at all.
He would reach out whenever he was home, always suggesting we grab a drink and asking about my kids and me. I can’t say that about a lot of people—but that was Rob. Always giving of himself, always present, always kind.
It’s so true that the good die young. I will miss him dearly.

Rob and I were colleagues at EDC & worked closely, particularly in my last 5 years before retiring. Witty, hard-working, loyal, genuine, generous and filled with kindness and decency to the core — that is how I will always remember Rob. He was a progressive thinker, and I greatly appreciated his positivity and
optimism. Those qualities helped many both inside and outside the workplace. My heartfelt sympathies to Mr. & Mrs. Forbes, Laurie, Charlie, Riley and the entire Forbes family. Rob will be dearly missed.

Robbie made a sincere difference in my life. In our first year playing hockey together with the SEDMHA Bantam A Team when I was in grade 8 (he was in grade 9) he became my conduit into a whole new group of friends in Woodlawn. I would walk or bike over from the Caledonia area every Friday and Saturday night (when we weren’t playing) and we would just wonder around, cruising the lined streets of Woodlawn and would always meet up with a cast of characters. And we did this for the three straight years we played together…Bantam A, Midget A and then Midget AAA. Forbes-Kinch-Miller…a dominating combination. Eventually the occasional beer or two would factor into the stories that were made. And there were many. The memories from those times have never been forgotten. I wish I could have told you how important you were in helping me become the person I am today. Love ya buddy.

My condolences to Rob’s family. We played EDC fastball together for many years and Rob was an excellent athlete who was competitive and a sportsman who supported his teammates. I also had the opportunity to work with Rob who was kind, effective, and left a positive impact. I will miss his sense of humour and kindness.
