Obituary of Susan Davies

Susan passed away peacefully at the age of 74, with her daughter and beloved kitties by her side.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Sarah, son-in-law, Devlin Helferty, and granddaughters, Nia and Vivian Helferty. Susan was predeceased by her husband, Peter, and her parents, Lomer and Rita Lecuyer.

Throughout Susan’s 27-year battle with breast cancer, she was blessed with the care of many wonderful doctors, Dr. Young, Dr. Cross, and most recently and especially, Dr. Awan, whose compassion, caring, and understanding of both my mom and her disease kept her going when so many others would have given up.

We are deeply grateful to the amazing nurses from the Clinical Trial team at the General Hospital, and to her home-care nurse, Christian. We will forever appreciate the countless friends and neighbours who helped care for both of my parents over the past decade. A special thank you goes out to Ena and Rod for ensuring my mom’s final wish, to be at home in her final days, was fulfilled.

At Susan’s request, there will not be a funeral. Instead, a Celebration of Life will be held at the family cottage next summer. Details will follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ottawa Humane Society would be appreciated.
