Obituary of Settimio Inglese

With heavy hearts, we share that our beloved dad, Settimio Inglese, passed away peacefully in hospice care in Ottawa on September 28, 2025, at the age of 85. After a long and difficult fight with melanoma cancer, he left us surrounded by his love — just as he lived his life.

To us, his daughters, Stefania and Orchidea, he was our rock — our pillar of strength and the steady hand we could always count on. Dad was a humble and proud man with a deep, strong voice, yet there was always a gentleness in him that made everyone feel safe and loved.

He absolutely adored his grandchildren, Erica and Philip (Rachel) and shared a close bond with his son-in-law Eric. To his nephews, he was lovingly called “Chief,” and to all his nieces and nephews, he was the cool uncle — the one who listened, laughed, and always made them feel special. 

He leaves behind his two sisters in Toronto, Fulvia (Antonio), Lilia (Vincenzo), as well as his brother-in-law Danilo in Italy (husband of his late baby sister Edda).

We are so grateful for my dad's palliative doctor, Dr. Andrew Douglas and the amazing hospice staff at Ruddy Shenkman Hospice in Kanata whose kindness, compassion and care gave us a few more precious months with him.

Dad is now reunited with our beautiful mom Nina in heaven, along with many family and friends who went before him. We like to imagine them all together again, celebrating his arrival with open arms, a glass of wine and a plate of sagne a pez'. 

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends here in Canada and abroad, and everyone lucky enough to have known him. His love, strength, and kindness will stay with us forever.

Family and friends can pay their respects on Wednesday October 8, 2025 at Pinecrest Visitation Centre,  2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Service at 1:00 p.m.  Entombment will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Tamir Foundation (Stefania's Group Home) or to Ruddy Shenkman Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
