Rena Pezoulas

Obituary of Rena Pezoulas

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Rena Pezoulas, on the morning of October 5, 2025, at home in Ottawa. Rena faced many years of respiratory and cardiac illness with remarkable courage and grace.

She is now reunited in heaven with her loving husband, Nicholas Pezoulas, who passed away on August 4, 2002. Predeceased by her parents, John and Venetia Papagabriel, her sisters Artoula (Haris Volanis) and Elena (Dmitiris Skanavis), and brother-in-laws Constantin Pezoulas, John Pezoulas and sister-in-law Tassia (Konstantinos Petropoulos).

She is survived by her four devoted children: Patricia, Athanasios (Nancy), John, and Nicole (Ricardo). Her seven cherished grandchildren: Nicholas, Layla, Anastasia, Evangelia, Pallas Rose, Theodore and Amaia.

She is also survived by her eldest sister Vicky in Greece, and her beloved nieces Margie Xarami and Christiana Soulou, along with her sister-in-laws Sonya Pezoulas and Effie Pezoulas as well as a wide circle of extended family and loving friends in Greece and Canada.

Rena leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and creativity. Rena will be forever remembered for her unwavering strength, her infectious sense of humour, her incredible home-cooked meals, and her deep devotion to her family. A gifted artist, her passion for oil painting lives on in the many masterpieces she proudly exhibited at the Greek Festival and local art showcases each year. She was a true example of warmth, grace, and creativity.

Family and friends may pay their respect at the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church (1315 Prince of Wales Drive) from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at noon. Private interment to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Rena’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Lung Health Foundation or The Hellenic Community of Ottawa.

Her love, laughter, and legacy will remain in our hearts forever.

May her memory be eternal.
