Obituary of Carl Ritchie
An Angel has left us today. Carl Ritchie, age 92, known as Dad to his sons and Gido to the grandchildren, passed away peacefully at the Queensway Carleton Hospital on Tuesday October 14, 2025 after a brave battle with pulmonary infection. A warm and loving person, Dad/Gido always had a smile, kind words and a joke now and then for family, friends and anyone he would meet.
Born in Ottawa, he met the love of his life, Agathe Beauchamp. They spent 56 years together in a loving marriage, enjoying the beauty and peacefulness of the cottage.
While our mother passed away on May 4th, 2013, Dad continued loving her every day for the last 12 years. On the day of his passing, he had with him her picture and his crucifix. He trusted the Lord to take him home and was hoping to see his lovely Agathe again.
He will live on in our memories, continuing to speak to us in our hearts, through the gentle evening breezes when he would say his prayers, the voices and actions of the many people he touched and the random written thoughts on sticky notes that leave behind little hints of wisdom. He is survived by his three sons Anthony (Lydia), Grant (Belinda) and David (Nadine) and grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family is grateful for the respectful and compassionate care he received from medical staff at the Queensway Carleton Hospital.
Visitation will be held November 14th at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A funeral Mass and reception will take place at St. Isidore’s Church on November 15th at 10:30 am with burial services at Hope Cemetery, 4660 Bank Street, on November 17th at 11:00 am. Donations may be made to the Ottawa Heart Institute.
