Obituary of Stanley Gordon Grover

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Stanley Gordon Grover, a proud Korean War Veteran, who died peacefully at the Perley Veterans Care Centre in his 94th year on Saturday, October 25, 2025. 

Born in Coronation, Alberta, Stan graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He enjoyed a long career with the Federal Government, retiring as a Patent Officer in 1994.

Stan was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Evan and Elmer; his first wife, Catherine; and stepdaughters Jackie and Penny.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Beverly; stepsons Michael (Karrie) and Stephen (Louise); stepdaughter Joanne (Thomas); nine step-grandchildren; and ten step-great-grandchildren. He is also remembered by Catherine's children, stepsons David (Cathy) and Fredrick (Leila); sisters Jean (Glen) and Cathy; sisters-in-law Gwen and Arlene; and many nieces and nephews.

A dedicated curler, Stan was a proud member and former President of the Ottawa Curling Club, where he met Beverly. They shared many years competing on mixed teams. Stanley was a member of Legion 616 for many years

An avid golfer, Stan spent many joyful years playing throughout the Ottawa Valley and 19 winters golfing in Englewood, Florida.

Stan treasured his years living in Constance Bay with Beverly, watching their grandchildren-and later great-grandchildren play on the beach.

The peaceful riverfront community brought him much happiness and lasting memories. Stan will be lovingly remembered for his warmth, quick wit, laughter and deep love for family and friends.

The family would like to thank all the staff at the Perley Veterans Care Centre for all their compassionate care for Stanley. 

Family and friends are invited to gather at Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa, on Friday, October 31, 2025 from 10 am until time of service in the Chapel at 11am. Reception to follow.
