I met Barry on my very first day at work and, like many others have mentioned, he was happy to show me around and make me feel welcome. In turn, Barry was always one of the first people I’d introduce new employees to - because you just HAD to know Barry - and he would pass on the same kindness to each new employee. We were truly lucky to have known such a kind, positive and genuinely caring person, he will be missed. My deepest sympathies to Barry’s family for this immense loss.

Barry was a one of a kind person, who I feel was truly an angel who walked among us. His mom must be so proud to have raised someone who positively impacted so many lives and left a forever imprint on their hearts. He was one of the most kindest, outgoing and genuine people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He was very gifted at connecting with others and making them feel special, which is one of the many reasons why so many of us will miss him. I will always be grateful to have had Barry’s friendship and will remember our love of all things purple. I am going to miss the laughs, his smile, the heart to heart chats, and him stopping by my office to lift his pant leg to show off his cool purple socks. Thank you Barry for being an inspiration on how one person can make such a difference. The office just won't be the same without him. My thoughts and prayers are with Barry's family.

My deepest condolences for the loss of Barry - losing a dear one is never easy. This has been a shock for so many of us. :-( I will truly miss running into Barry in the hallways or the G kitchen, and helping him stock the IMSD G kitchen tuck shop - an initiative which he started and led. This initiative won a 2019 Corporate Services Branch Assistant Deputy Minister Award of Excellence in the Workplace Well-being category. Barry, I will miss your gentleness, smile, sense of humour and caring nature. Whether or not you knew it then, you were a light in the lives of many. May you rest in peace and may your light continue to shine from the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing you!

Barry used to bring his mom Helen to work for a visit now and then, and we all got to meet her. He was so proud. Such a loving family. Please take comfort in knowing that Barry lived his live to the fullest as he wanted, and loved his dog Foxy so very much. He and I would talk about her and his love for Basenji's. It was a windy day and we were healing way over when Barry looked back with raccoon eyes and said " Is this normal...?" After that day, he was hooked and became our regular crew as well as part of our family. We spent time watching hockey and StarTrek and he was always welcome at our home for family dinners.
