Not the happiest time in my life for sure, but Don could fight no more and he died peacefully in his sleep not long after Caron and I arrived to take over from Kim who had just left from the "'morning shift". He died in the afternoon in the Ace Ward (Acute Care of the Elderly), Queensway Carleton Hospital, Ottawa, Ontario on July 16th. He would have been 84 this coming October. Rest in peace my love, you deserve it and we will meet again some day, you can count on it. Your Patty xxxx

My goodness...what a sad time...your whole family have been in my life for ever...we bonded Kim, at the tender age of 5-6 and when you moved to Canada, I wrote, and you called ...and we've remained close, close friends ever since. I feel so deeply for your loss, all of you, but remember your dad with the fondest of memories and for being there for you 3 beautiful ladies who he knew surrounded him with love. I'm so thankful for my visit relatively recently to you all in Canada, and remember your mum and dad coming to see me in Middlezoy when Abi my middle daughter was about 18 months..to see them was so special. Memories I think back and my childhood is full of happy memories with uncle Don and Aunty Pat. Uncle Don cooked the best pancakes, one morning he challenged me to eat 13 pancakes, drizzled with maple syrup and fresh fruit. He beat me! I was gutted! (And very full) Master magician which he shared with my girls. Memories of uncle Don cooking on the bbq, not just your normal sausages and burgers, but exquisite meats. An amazing man, welcoming me for weeks on ends for my annual summer trips and welcoming me in my adult life with sarah and the kids. We’ll miss you Uncle Don x x

Dad. It’s a been a long rough road for you in the past year, so I’m going to remember the good stuff. I’ll remember growing up with you, caron and mum in the early days in the UK with our beloved family around us. I’ll remember moving to Canada when it was only the 4 of us for so long, and spending time exploring every weekend. Like Caron, I will remember frog hunting and trips to Niagara Falls whenever the Brits came to visit. Its hard to believe its been a week already that you’ve been gone but I know you are safe, you are with friends and family to hold your hand now that we can’t. You were loved, You are loved, and the last 3 weeks in the hospital is not how I will remember you. You told the 3 of us that you did not know what you would do without us, but I know you will figure it out. I am happy you have found peace. Love Your Kimmy.

The first man i ever loved, my Daddy, Daddio, Diddums. We may not have always seen eye to eye, but i always knew i was Loved. There were a lot of great weekend family outings, and a very memorable camping trip to Pembroke where it rained for a week straight and all Kim and I could do was frog hunt, LOL. The dementia did take him from us a bit, we still had some fun visits. I will never forget the look on his face when We snuck a beer into the hospital and he took that first sip. He looked at us and called us his Cheeky Girls i am glad that i got to tell him that we would be OK, that i loved him, and hold his hand as he left. LOVE YOU DADDIO
