Gail Pritchard (nee Morris)

Obituary of Gail Elizabeth Pritchard (nee Morris)

Passed away peacefully on May 7, 2021 in Ottawa at the age of 83. Gail was predeceased by her devoted husband, John Robert Pritchard (August 15, 2012) who she married in Ottawa in 1961. Gail grew up in Ottawa with her brother Bill and sister Beverly in a musical family where she learned piano and violin from her mother, and this became a lifelong passion where she played in the Parkdale United Church Orchestra with all members of her family for many years. Her married life took her all over the world with John as they followed his work wherever he was assigned, and they raised four boys while living in places as far afield as Germany, Italy and Colorado. Ottawa however was always home. Gail had a passion for her gardens, travel, and the Montreal Expos, and she gave freely of her time in fostering many babies over the years. Gail did not let a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis early in her life prevent her from raising her four boys, and enjoying her gardens, her pool and travel. Gail and John shared almost 52 years of happily married life and in their retirement, they traveled extensively, enjoying many cruises to exotic locations. They were also long standing members of City View United Church. Gail was predeceased by her father Stuart, mother Olive, sister Beverly, and son Geoff. She is survived by her brother Bill, and her three children Gordon (Rainbow), Ian (Melody), and Steve (Theresa). She will be sadly missed by her two grandchildren Christopher and Robert.  The family thanks the staff at the Salvation Army Ottawa Grace Manor and the Civic Campus of the Ottawa Hospital for their long term care.  There will be no celebration of life or visitation at this time, and cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada would be appreciated.
