Obituary of Angela Thompson

Born Angela Schmidt to loving parents Alexander and Sarah (nee Timm) on February 9, 1926 (or 11) in the now Ukrainian portion of the U.S.S.R. Beloved sister to Mary Herzog, Helen Vidal, and brother Herbert, and predeceased by brother Joseph and sister Tatiana (Anne). Married Kenneth Harvey Thompson (predeceased) on August 3, 1946 in a double ceremony alongside sister Tatiana and brother-in-law Harry Manton (predeceased). Beloved Mother to four sons Kenneth Gordon, Ronald Glenn, Douglas Gary, and James Richard, grandmother to Robert, Erica, and Nathan, and Lindsay and Bradley, and great-grandmother to Cadence and Sadie. After emigrating to Canada as an infant through the port of Halifax, the family settled on a farm near Whitemouth, Manitoba. Angela was at home on the farm until the age of 16 through the entirety of the Great Depression. She operated her own trap line to supplement the farm income, an experience which she was proud of and cherished through her life. Angela persevered through many hardships in her life to be a successful daughter, wife, mother, homemaker, stock investor, and person of extraordinary character. After a prolonged period battling Parkinsons disease Angela passed peacefully with family at her side shortly after sunrise on August 22, 2021, aged 95 years and 194 days. She will be dearly missed by those whose lives she touched. Services will be held at Pinecrest Cemetery Sunday, August 29.
