Kurt Klinger

Obituary of Kurt Klinger

Kurt Hans-Joachim Klinger left this world surrounded by his family on December 4, 2021 at the age of 86 after a long battle with dementia.

He was born in Berlin, Germany and grew up quickly during WW2, helping to raise his two younger sisters, Uschi and Ruth. On New Year’s Eve in 1955, Kurt met the love of his life, Hanne-lore. It was love at first sight and they danced their way to midnight together. They spent the rest of their lives charming everyone around them with the beautiful way they moved and danced together.

After choosing a career in carpentry, Kurt chased his dream of a better life for his future family in Canada. There was nothing more important to him, for he was a very proud and devoted father and grandfather. He leaves behind three loving children and four adoring grandchildren: Reinhard (grandchildren Kristoffer and Katelyn), Michael (Tammy, Kyle and Travis) and Angelika (Kevin). He also leaves behind many friends he met across Canada, the USA and Germany.

Kurt had many hobbies and passions. He loved to build things and had a successful home-building business (K.K. Construction) in Ottawa for over 30 years. He was an avid sailor and spent much of his free time on the water—sailing, swimming, scuba diving and making memories with his family at the cottage in Buckham’s Bay and wintering in Madeira Beach, Florida. He loved to play games and sports, and he especially loved to win. His family and friends will always remember his fiercely competitive nature. He worked hard and played hard. That spirit and determination will be deeply missed.
