You can only have one mother,
Patient, kind and True.
No other friend in the world
Will be the same to you.
When other friends forsake you,
To mother you will return,
For all her loving kindness,
She asks for nothing in return.
As we look upon her picture,
Sweet memories we recall,
Of a face so full of sunshine
And a smile for one and all.
Sweet Jesus take this message,
To our dear mother above,
Tell her how we miss her
And give her all our love.

Man hat nur eine Mutter
Geduldig, leib und treu
Auf der ganzen Welt ist neimand
Der uns so liebt wie sie.
Wenn Andere uns varlassen
Gliech wenden wir uns an sie
Denn Mutters leibevolle Gute
Ist immer fur uns da.
Ihr Bild vor unseren Augen
Erinnet uns an Liebe
An ein Gesicht voll Sonnenschein
Und immer ein Lacheln bereit.
Ach Jesu nimm’ diese Nachricht
Und bring’ sie der lieben Mutter
Sag’ ihr wie sehr wir sie vermissen
Und gib’ ihr alle unsere Liebe
