I went to Greenbank and SRB with Mike. He was always nice to me at school. Last year, I was walking, pushing my stroller, with my two daughters when I heard someone call my name. It was Mike! I don’t remember exactly what we talked about, but we had such a nice chat and he listened so patiently while I rambled on about my kiddos and whatever else. It was such a nice surprise to bump into him and for him to remember me. The encounter truely made my day!
I am so shocked and saddened to hear he is no longer with us. Mental illness is a terrible battle, and to have fought it for 20 years is very brave. My deepest and heartfelt condolences to his family. Take comfort that he left a positive mark even on those he crossed paths with ever so briefly.
I went looking through my old years books to see if I might have something else to share and found an entry I had from him in middle school. In hindsight, his description of my infatuation with Brian from the Backstreet boys was quite accurate.
