My cousin Sunil, better known as Bobby passed away in Ottawa, May 5 2022. We will miss him and his jokes. When I arrived in Montreal in 1974, Bobby introduced me to the Montreal subway system, got me a job when my funds were dwindling. He inherited an old car which had been damaged in an accident, and built it up, removing dents and holes and changing tires, replacing parts of the engine, and then taking us on long drives to the beaches of Long Sault and Plattsburg, cross border shopping, Niagara Falls and picnics in and around the Montreal area. His mom would marinate spicy tandoori chicken and Bob would grill it on the coal hibachi, and then grill corn, smear it with butter and sprinkle chili flakes. We had the music blaring in the car and a transistor which went everywhere so we could hear songs like Seasons in the Sun, Annie's Song, Rock Me Gently and all the disco hits. Bobby and I were three years apart but had the same crazy sense of humour and I learnt to ride a bike with him when we were kids. Hope you find peace in your new home, although an untimely departure.
