Obituary of Harold "Bo" Allen Barter

Harold "Bo" Allen Barter, aged 89, of Nepean, Ontario, passed away August 12, 2022, at the Elisabeth Bruyere Hospital in Ottawa. Family and friends are welcome to attend the graveside service at Pinecrest Remembrance on September 17 at 11:00 a.m.

 

Bo was born in North Bay, Ontario to Harold and Jean Barter on June 24, 1933. He went to Nepean High School and Pickering College. He went on to the University of New Brunswick where he excelled as the Football Team Quarterback and in Fencing, while taking a combined Degree in Forestry and Business. This is also where he met and married his soulmate Jo, Joanne Corbin Barter.

 

Together, Bo and Jo successfully ran their business, BTI, organized the first Can/Am International Swim Meet, guided many tours through Algonquin Park, hosted international students at their homestay developing relationships still treasured today, as well as participating in volunteer organizations. As an avid outdoorsman and athlete he instilled his appreciation and knowledge of nature and sports in all who knew him.

 

His love for his family and enthusiasm for life will be greatly missed by his survivors: Jennifer Barter Rennie (daughter), Rob Rennie (son-in-law), grandchildren: Jay Rennie, (with Lauren and Neveah), Jessica Barter (with Damian, Christina, Gabriel, Dominic, Eva and Izzy), Nicholas Barter (with Val and MacKenzie, Jenna and Trance), Carrie Barter Thompson (with Mike and Owen), Alex Barter (with Tara and soon to arrive Jasper Grant Barter), and nephew Chris Busby (with Anne and Emma).

 

Bo now joins his sons, Kimberly Grant deceased Aug. 7, 2022, and Tony, David Anthony deceased Aug. 21, 2022, all of whom passed within the same two weeks. Rest peacefully together now Bo and Jo, Kim and Tony. We love you and will forever hold your warmth and smiles in our hearts.
