Our condolences to all of Mr. James’s family. Growing up I used to love knocking on Des’s door to see if he could come out. I was always greeted with a big smile and a boisterous laugh from Mr James telling me to come in and eat something before going out. It was always a food adventure as my family was just plain meat and potatoes. Most of the dads were well liked in the building but Mr. James was one of the better ones that everyone loved and enjoyed talking to. May he rest in peace.

I'll miss you dad. Thanks for everything.
Especially thanks for the gift of your many talents.
Among your last words to me were "remember the good things". I do and always will.
The music plays on.
Rest in peace.
Your loving son,
J-FJ

My Uncle, my Godfather. I was 8 yrs old when I made my 1st Holy Communion, it was my Uncle Mathew who made my veil, which he decorated with pearls. I will always remember this special gift to me. During the Easter holidays in Pindi my brothers and I spent our holidays with Uncle Mathew and Aunty Helen, this was a fun time for us, as Uncle Mathew had chicken's and we used to feed them. I am so glad I visited him in Ottawa September 2022. During my visit we exchanged recipes. My Uncle Mathew was a good cook and cooked enough for an army. He would have made an excellent "food critic and chocolatier". RIP X

My grandpa will always have a cherished spot in my heart, I have so many wonderful memories of him including a funny one of him explaining to me how certain words are pronounced (and how other people are saying them wrong). He always filled my heart with joy when I was speaking to him and when he was staring stories with me. Another great one is when me and my dad were visiting when I was 7 and when we were saying goodbye to everyone before leaving for the airport, he gave me a massive chocolate bar probably about 3 feet long. Grandpa just loved his chocolate and loved to share it with everyone too. I am sad to see him pass but I am so grateful I was able to have him in my life, we will all miss you very much grandpa❤️

So many special memories of Uncle Matthew from the tasty food he cooked to the long chats we had. Uncle had insight into most topics and enjoyed talking to anyone and everyone about his view point. He worked hard to provide for his family and loved them dearly. I remember his visits when we lived in Lahore and how he made my brother, my sisters and I sit down and taught us the song “Tie me Kangaroo Down Sport”. To this day I remember his visits fondly and find myself singing that song and smiling,
I am very grateful to him for always being their for us.
We will miss you but will always cherish the memories and hold you close to our hearts.
Rest now, Uncle Matthew.
Love Dolly

Uncle Matthew and I bonded over music. In a room full of people, you could always hear his beautiful voice singing louder than everyone else’s. His will always be one of the most comforting voices I have ever heard.
Uncle Matthew, I promise to practice what you taught me and sing louder. Thank you for always encouraging me. Rest in peace; you will be missed ❤️

Chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, Mathew had them all. He would travel miles on his Triumph tiger cub 150cc motorcycle to get the best breeds, with one of his brother-in-law(us) on the pillion seat with a pair of poultry under our arms. He was a home grown vet, and administered the poultry injections, medicine and treated water, yes he reckoned the water from the taps was the cause of their illness.
After our father passed away, with the little Mathew and Helen had, he fed us, clothed us and provided us with shelter as best they could. For this I will be eternally grateful, which was truely character building for me.
Mathew wanted to be perfect in everything, and often corrected us if we were not holding the guitar right or not pronouncing a word correctly. He had his view on certain things and debated with anyone who challenged these views.
Mathew was a great joke teller and my children, Jean and I remember him for that.
I could go on… memories, hardships, laughter, tears, we shared them, lived them and I am so grateful that he was a huge part of my life.
I can hear him up there with his huge laugh, sharing a joke with all he joined in a far better place.
RIP Mathew

Sympathies to Aunty Helen, John Frank, Ed, Des and Doreen.
My memories of Uncle Mathew are vivid and fond. Before I even met him as an 8 year old coming to Canada I was so excited to meet him and I remember running down stairs to greet him. I also remember his generosity on our first trip to Canada spending as much time with us, telling us jokes and spoiling myself and my sister. He bought me a big transformer and my sister a life sized doll. It is one of my loved childhood toys not just because it is my favorite but also because of the person who gave it to me. In 1992 again were great times coming over for a family wedding. In between the ceremony and the reception was a long period of time so I remember him and me getting KFC and having a deep conversation about life as a 14 year old at the time, this moment and many more stay with me forever. Rest in Peace Uncle Mathew.

I was very sad to hear the news of Matthew's passing and extend deepest condolences to Helen, JF, Doreen, Ed, Des, Connor, Mason and all the familiy. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Matthew had an unforgettable personality and I have great memories of him from our time in Pakistan for his humour and wonderful singing. Then meeting him again in Canada after many years in 2006 was also a joy! RIP Matthew.

So many great memories our dear Uncle Mathew. His love for family, friends, cooking and sharing his words of wisdom will be forever missed. I was lucky to spend a few days with him last month, sharing stories, looking at pictures and just sitting quietly beside him. Although he was weak his mind was strong. Sending all my love to the James clan. Tracy, Geoff, Rye, Wilson, and Ally

We will always remember Uncle Mathew for his joyful laughter, his quick wit and his large personality. He always had a sparkle in his eyes and a joke to tell. He was highly intelligent and loved to share his point of view on a variety of subjects. We loved his generous spirit, his cooking and admired his dedication to the church. Although the last time we saw him he was weak and frail he still managed to make us laugh. Thank you Uncle for all that you have taught us and shared with us throughout the years. We will miss you.
