Sharon Mae Collins

Obituary of Sharon Mae Collins

Passed away peacefully on November 13 at the Queensway Carleton Hospital. Sharon was a loving mother to Melanie Collins and Heather (Bradley) Mesich and the very proud grandmother of Jessica and Jonathon Collins and Madeline, Jack, Olivia, Faye, and Hugo Mesich.  She was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Isobel (nee Hetherington) Edwards, her loving uncle, Joseph Edwards, and by her sister, Jacqueline Cross. Sharon was born on August 24th at the Carman Hospital in Carman Manitoba. Her early years were spent in Erickson and Roland Manitoba. As a child, she adored horses and was known for sneaking stray dogs into her home. She was a life-long lover of sports, most notably figure skating and aerobics. She also loved music. Whenever there was music, she would be moved to sing and dance regardless of where or who was watching. However, what mom cherished most in life were her friends and family, and her walks at Andrew Hayden Park, where she would seek out every opportunity to pet someone’s dog and engage in conversation. She was an incredibly loyal friend, and as a result had friendships, some of which spanned decades, with the most kind hearted and genuine people imaginable. These connections she made with people and nature will be her legacy. A Celebration of Life will be held at Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa on Saturday, November 19th from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ottawa Humane Society or The Olde Forge Community Resource Centre.
