Obituary of Lois Gail MacDonald

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, Lois Gail  MacDonald.  Mom died on January 30, 2023, at the age of 81, surrounded by her loving family. 

Family was the keystone of Gail’s life, and she loved her family unconditionally.  She leaves behind her loving daughters, Jann MacDonald (Ian Moyes) and Donna-Gail (Sean) Christopher and three grandchildren Emily, Jacob and Meghan Christopher. She is fondly remembered by Adrian Moyes (Ashley) and Tyson Moyes. Gail was predeceased by her devoted husband, of 57 years, Henry (Don) MacDonald, as well as her parents and siblings.  She came from a close extended family in Ottawa and the Maritimes and will be missed by them as well.

Gail had many interests and passions through her life.  In particular, she was passionate about the support groups she established and ran for two autoimmune diseases: Sjogren’s Syndrome and Inclusion Body Myositis.  She provided leadership, support and friendship for many people that were afflicted with these debilitating diseases.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Pinecrest Remembrance at 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa Ontario on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.  Words of remembrance will be at 2:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either the Sjogren’s Society of Canada or the Canadian Myositis Association.
