Obituary of Alfio Trombetti
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alfio Trombetti on Thursday, February 9, 2023, in his 88th year.
Alfio will be dearly missed by all his favorite ‘girls’: his wife of 58 years, Bruna (Cassandra), and his three daughters, Oriana (David Stewart-Patterson), Stefania (Cameron Siles), and Lilia (Aziz Mehira), all of whom he was extremely proud. He was the fond and loving grandfather of Isabella and Nicholas and will be missed by many family members and friends in both Italy and Canada.
Born and raised in Sgurgola, Frosinone, Italy, Alfio was the son of the late Umberto Trombetti and Bianca (Morgia). He is predeceased by his siblings Terenzio (Genoveffa), Lia (Lucido) (Angelo) and Adelio (Adele), and his in-laws Filiberto Cassandra and Maria (Pagani). He is survived by his sisters-in-law Rita (late Gabriele Martella) and Laura (late Agostino D’Angelo).
Alfio immigrated to Ottawa, Canada in 1961 and will leave his legacy as one of the capital’s best-known and sought-after stone masons, preserving heritage sites and building magnificent homes around the region. Always one to enjoy a party, Alfio was a great dancer who enthusiastically celebrated life’s milestones and his family’s accomplishments. After retirement, Alfio could be found taking meticulous care of his beautiful house, which he had built himself and which he had made a loving home for his family for over 55 years. A quiet and humble man, every year, Alfio loved cultivating a lavish vegetable garden and grapevines, the fruits of which he shared generously.
The family would like to thank the following angels who were especially instrumental in ensuring Alfio was around to enjoy a long, plentiful life: Dr. Louis Di Raimo, Dr. Sudhir Sundaresan, Karen Kornienko of the LHIN, and the Community Paramedic Service of Ottawa for their excellent response and care.
Friends and family are invited to visit at Cole Funeral Services, 2500 Baseline Road, on Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. A Funeral Service will follow in the chapel at 1:00 p.m.
The family welcomes the use of masks.
If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation or the Bruyère Foundation.
