Santino Donnini

Obituary of Santino Donnini

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, and friend, Santino Donnini. He was the loving husband of Niann (Sheu), and proud father of Romina. He is predeceased by his beloved parents, Francesco Donnini and Hilda (De Re).

He emigrated from Luxembourg to Canada in 1968 at age 13, and lived in the home that his father built. He learned the craft of stone masonry with his father, Frank, and contributed to the stonework of several buildings in the Ottawa area, including the Pinecrest Cemetery.

Santino’s greatest joys in life were spending time with his family, spending time outside in nature, and working in his garden. He loved coaching and playing soccer, and he proudly coached Romina’s team for several years. She has many cherished memories of playing soccer with her dad.

Santino was a joyful, generous person, who loved to help and support others. He was a captivating storyteller who always had a funny anecdote to share. He enjoyed teaching people new things, and he always had wisdom to impart on any subject, ever happy to share one of his famous “life lessons”.

Santino spoke multiple languages, and he kept in touch with family around the world. He will be greatly missed by family in Italy, Luxembourg, Taiwan, and the United States.

Santino was deeply loved, and will be missed by his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Santino’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society
