Obituary of James Wilfred Eagle

Passed away peacefully on April 11th 2023 in the care of the medical team of the ICU at the Queensway Carleton Hospital.

 

Beloved husband of Cecilia Grace Eagle. Loving father of Joan Gobiel (nee Eagle). Proceeded before James was Barbara Gail Eagle December 31st 1960 David Glen Eagle Oct 28th 2019. Followed by Joyce Eagle July 6th 2021. Glenda Gail Eagle and Don James Wilfred Eagle. Cherished grandfather of numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

 

James was predeceased by his parents Roy and Theresa Eagle; brothers Tom, Raymond, Glenn, sisters Bertha and Gertrude and twins George and Rose.  As well as nephews, Raymond Eagle, Robert McIvor, and great nephew Dodi Wilson.   Niece Glenda James, also his cousins who were like brother Donald Catcheway.

 

He will also be missed by His fellow Veterans from the National Aboriginal Veterans Association.  The Korean Veterans Association The friends he met at the Korean Embassy.  The Wabano Centre seniors program who were with the family up to his passing and still are supportive. The Odawa Lifelong Care Program. The Numerous Organizations he either worked for or volunteered for and there are too many to list as he was involved all over Turtle Island.

 

Special interests, accomplishments, accomplishment James was involved with other Nava Veterans in putting together a goal that is now sitting on the grounds of unceded Algonquin territory in Confederation Park in Ottawa it was a 10 year struggle but it is now a War Memorial for all Veterans of any Color to be proud of.

 

Visitation will be held at Highland Park Cemetery, 2037 McGee Side Road, Carp on Thursday, April 27, and on Friday, April 28, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Highland Park Cemetery on Saturday, April 29 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Pinecrest Cemetery, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa.
