You lose your last thought at the end of a sewing needle
Where every pull-through fabric makes two worlds one again
With this, I wait watching
As you nurture the thread through time
Pulling me into the material you call, "family"
I can see you've made a blanket
From which you rise with tired arms and an aching heart
You clear the fog from your glasses
Standing loyal but burdened to the form your creation takes
All you did to create the sound, smell, and shape your love takes
Was a war held in the hands of your beloved
And all tired soldiers rest well
Now I watch as you dance toward the home from once you came
Only to appear in this life again as a memory
Or a breath
Or newfound wisdom
Or as a joke
Or regret
But hopefully
As silence
