Obituary of William Leahy
William (Ted) Edward Leahy, born on November 30th, 1934, in Saint John, New Brunswick, peacefully passed away in Ottawa on May 10th, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife Monique (nee Tremblay), son Stephen (Sarah), and daughter Debbie (James Turner). Ted's grandchildren Sarah, Justin, Kevin, and Kira brought immense happiness to his life, and they cherished the time they spent with him. Beloved brother in law to Francoise and Pierre-Charles and special uncle to his many nephews and nieces.
A proud alumnus of St. Francis Xavier University, Ted dedicated his professional life to the pharmaceutical industry, enjoying a long and distinguished career with Burroughs Wellcome. He was also a devoted member of St. Maurice's Parish in Ottawa, where he served as an usher. Ted's warm smile, lighthearted jokes, and ability to make everyone feel welcome will be deeply missed by many.
A Funeral Mass to honor Ted will take place at St. Maurice's Catholic Church (4 Perry St.) on Tuesday, May 16th at 11:00 am. Following the service, a reception will be held in the church hall, providing an opportunity for friends and loved ones to come together and share memories. The inurnment will follow afterwards at Pinecrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to The Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County.
A special thank you to the wonderful staff at the Prince of Wales Manor and the Ottawa Civic Geriatric Assessment Unit for their amazing care and compassion.
As we bid farewell to Ted, Dad, and Grandpa, let us hold in our hearts the memories of the love, laughter, and genuine connections he brought into our lives. May his spirit forever inspire kindness and bring joy to all who follow in his footsteps.
