Obituary of Carl Lokeaindra Persaud
Carl Lokeaindra Persaud: Born December 25, 1955 in Essequibo, Guyana. Passed away on April 23, 2023.
Carl is survived by his wife, Sarah (née Anze); siblings Errol (Debbie), Cheryl, and sister-in-law, Pushpa Persaud; nephews Chris, Vinood, Vijay, Sanjay; nieces Renata & Ilana. He was predeceased by his parents Samuel and Annie and oldest brother Ronald. In addition, his many extended family members (uncles, aunts, cousins) all mourn his loss. The Anze family also share this heartbreak.
At age 12, Carl was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Guyana. Soon after, his family moved to Fredericton, New Brunswick, where he completed high school. Relocating to Ottawa in 1976, he graduated from Algonquin College. His various employment experiences in computer technology and business processes led him to his most recent vocation as a professor at Algonquin College, from which he retired.
After marrying Sarah Anze in 1989, they began their treasured 33 years together, travelling the world, spending time with friends and family, and sharing their beliefs with the community. Carl enjoyed travelling to different countries, experiencing the local culture (especially the food) and like his dad, found it easy and rewarding to engage both strangers and friends in deep insightful conversations. His sense of humor and sincere personal interest was truly appreciated and will be sadly missed. Both Carl and Sarah were generous, and they endeared themselves to many, setting a fine example with the love they displayed.
Carl was diagnosed with ALS in 2020 and with great effort he continued to be a valuable member and elder in the Ottawa Spanish speaking congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Despite the grave physical limitations he faced, Carl still continued to entertain friends and help others to learn about the Bible.
Carl will be remembered very fondly by his many friends and family across Canada, South America, and abroad.
The family would like to express deep appreciation for the guidance and support of Ottawa Hospital ALS Clinic and the ALS Society of Canada.
