Obituary of Dianne Baird

Passed away peacefully at home in Ingersoll, Ontario on July 5, 2023. She will be sadly missed, but lovingly remembered by her husband Jurgen with whom she had many joyful adventures, her son David (Lisa), and her grandson Henry. She was predeceased by David, her husband of 46 years. Devoted daughter of the late Viola and Eldon Hammell.  

She will be fondly remembered by her brother John (Peggy), nephews Chris (Katie) and Jeff, Jurgen’s children Hilary and Alexander (Lindsay), and her extended family and friends. 

Dianne had a brief, one month battle with incurable esophageal cancer. Medical assistance in dying allowed her to pass peacefully and painlessly while surrounded by family. 

She will be remembered for her years as Vice Principal at both South Carleton High School and Merivale High School. Dianne was a passionate educator and avid traveler who loved deeply and will be missed dearly. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00pm on Friday, July 28,2023 at Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa, followed by a reception. 

Charitable donations to Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
